This initiative provides comprehensive, home-based care for 16 orphaned and vulnerable children in the Worage village area of North Shewa, Ethiopia. By ensuring reliable access to food, shelter, clothing, and quality education, our goal is to empower these children to break the cycle of poverty and grow into self-reliant, thriving adults. Due to extreme economic hardships, children in this region are frequently denied the opportunity to pursue an education.

Many rural families in Worage face severe systemic challenges, including food insecurity, lack of clean drinking water, and inadequate healthcare. In large households, when adult breadwinners face chronic underemployment or illness, coping with these pressures becomes a barrier to basic survival. Tragically, these hardships can lead to premature parental loss, leaving young children orphaned, destitute, and left to fend for themselves on the streets.

Our Intervention

This project directly steps into the lives of 16 children in Worage village to restore their safety and future. TBF ensures they receive balanced meals, a secure home environment, clean clothing, and healthcare.

Beyond basic survival, we are fully invested in their long-term growth. The children attend the local school regularly, and TBF covers all essential educational expenses—including school admission fees, textbooks, notebooks, school bags, and writing supplies. Within a supportive and nurturing environment, these children receive the personal mentorship, moral guidance, and care necessary for their physical, mental, and emotional development.

At The Bitew Foundation, we believe that providing these quality, well-rounded facilities is an operational model that restores long-term dignity, giving these children the opportunity to live happy, fulfilling lives.
